Construction firm BAM completes takeover of Gelderland-based A.Hak in €500 million deal

Thursday, 8 October 2026 - 21:10
The publicly traded building company BAM is taking over A.Hak, a contracting company specialized in underground infrastructure. The company is valued at over 500 million euros during the takeover.
With the purchase, BAM is looking to strengthen its position on the “fast-growing Dutch market for energy and water infrastructure.” A.Hak specializes in the construction of transmission pipelines, for example for gas, water, and electricity.
A.Hak will continue to work independently under its own name and with the current leadership group. A total of 900 people work at the company. There are currently no plans for reorganization as a result of the takeover.
The transaction is a growth acquisition, a spokesperson for BAM emphasized. “The demand is exceeding the capacity. We need everyone for the energy and water transition.”
The demand for underground infrastructure in the Netherlands has risen sharply in recent years, BAM said after the takeover. Grid operators of electricity and gas want to invest hundreds of millions in the coming years. There is also significant investment in water infrastructure.
A.Hak’s headquarters are in Tricht, Gelderland. The company is mainly active in the Netherlands, but also does projects abroad. The Dutch family business is expecting to have a turnover of around 425 million euros this year.
The takeover is expected to be completed in the first quarter of next year, depending on the approval of regulators.
BAM’s shares went down 1.6 percent at the Amsterdam Stock Exchange after the news of the takeover came through.
